Marisa Chaela of MissFitandNerdy has created these delicious paleo brownies, which contain the heart-healthy benefits of cacao and the adaptogenic-enhancing benefits of Reishi mushrooms and Ashwagandha.

These yummy paleo brownies would be great with some grass-fed vanilla ice cream and/or coconut-based ice cream, depending on your preferences!

Did you know that Reishi mushroom naturally has a bitter taste to it?! This is in part due to the high triterpenes present in the Reishi mushroom. This mushroom pairs beautifully with cocoa powder-themed desserts and tonic drinks.

Paleo Special Brownies

Serves: 8

Paleo Brownies Recipe Ingredients:

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ½ cup + 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 60 g melted chocolate, such as Real Mushroom's Chocolate
  • 20 g cacao butter
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp coconut flour
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp real mushrooms reishi 415
  • 1 tbsp ashwagandha

Optional: crushed pecans, almond butter, sunflower seed butter, peanut butter, or chocolate chips, or top it with sea salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 360 degrees.
  2. Spread a light layer of oil over a brownie baking dish
  3. Add coconut oil, cacao powder, chocolate, and cacao butter to double boiler and heat until melted then remove from heat and pour into cool bowl. Allow to cool to a temperature that is safe to touch.
  4. Pour honey, maple syrup (or coconut sugar), vanilla extract, and eggs. Mix thoroughly.
  5. Add ingredients, including almond flour, and whisk to combine the brownie batter.
  6. Pour mix into 1.5-inch thick brownie trays.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through. You’ll have perfectly fudgy paleo brownies that are gluten-free and dairy-free.

These fudgy brownies pair wonderfully with your favorite nut butter, like almond butter, and serve as the ultimate wholesome dessert. Whether using parchment paper or a greased baking dish, these treats will surely be a hit!
